Social Workers 4 Medical Cannabis (SW4MC) is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to integrating the therapeutic benefits of medical cannabis into social work practice. It was founded in 2023 by Tenisha Percell, a Biotechnology Medical Cannabis Therapeutics student at the Morehouse School of Medicine and a Master of Social Work student at Howard University. Ms. Percell founded SW4MC with the intention to focus on education, advocacy, and support to ensure that individuals, especially those in marginalized communities, have informed access to medical cannabis treatments.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between medical cannabis and social services by providing up-to-date, evidence-based information and training to social workers and related professionals. SW4MC offers workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses that highlight the latest research on cannabis and its potential health benefits, ethical considerations, and legal frameworks.

We also engage in advocacy efforts to influence policy and public perception, striving to remove barriers to access and to foster a more inclusive conversation around cannabis in healthcare. Through our extensive network, SW4MC collaborates with healthcare providers, legal experts, and community leaders to support comprehensive care models that recognize the value of cannabis in treating and managing a wide array of conditions.

At SW4MC, we believe in empowering social workers with the knowledge and tools to advocate for and support their clients' rights to safe, effective, and holistic healthcare options. Join us as we work towards a future where the integration of medical cannabis in social care settings is informed, ethical, and accessible to all.
